The role:

Deakin’s Faculty of Health and the IMPACT Institute are committed to translational, solution-focused research that delivers real-world impact. In collaboration with industry and government, we lead innovative clinical trials to improve mental health outcomes.

We are seeking an Associate Research Fellow, based at Barwon Health in Geelong, to support multi-site psychiatric clinical trials, focusing on novel treatments for depression.

The role involves participant recruitment, screening, and data collection, as well as clinical assessments, biological sample management, and general research administration. You'll work within a collaborative, cross-site team contributing to high-quality, practice-driven research.

To be successful, you’ll have:

- PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience (for example, in psychology, nursing, social work or other relevant discipline).
- Previous experience in clinical trials (preferably investigator-initiated trials).
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to produce clear, audience-appropriate communications and work effectively both collaboratively and independently across diverse teams and with research participants, specifically, management of people with major mental illness or disability.
- Demonstrated written, administrative, and organisational skills, including proficient use of Microsoft Office products, accurate data record keeping, attention to detail, and the ability to meet competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to publish research outputs and prepare manuscripts, reports or technical contributions.
