We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our team at Jalan Jalan Eats, a brand-new Malaysian restaurant opening soon in Ballarat. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the kitchen and help shape a unique dining experience that showcases the rich, diverse flavours of Malaysia.

You will be responsible for preparing a variety of traditional Malaysian dishes, including Malaysian Indian, Malay, and Chinese cuisines. The ideal candidate will have strong culinary skills, creativity, and the ability to work independently in a new kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and present authentic Malaysian dishes to a high standard
Assist in designing the menu and developing new items
Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including stock and hygiene
Ensure compliance with food safety and cleanliness standards
Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth service and quality
Assist with the training of staff

Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a chef in commercial kitchens
Formal qualifications in Commercial Cookery:
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum)
Certificate IV and/or Diploma in Commercial Cookery (preferred)
In-depth knowledge of Malaysian cuisine
Excellent time management and kitchen organisation skills
Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
Available to work on weekends and evenings
