Position Title: Gardener – Handyperson (Pool Ref IPS/SS1005116)
The Role
As a Gardener/Handyperson you will be responsible for maintaining the school grounds, gardens and all sporting areas. This includes keeping these areas clean, tidy, clearly marked, and managing turf. In addition, you will operate horticultural equipment and perform minor repairs and maintenance on tools and equipment. You will also communicate and work effectively with school staff, and practice all relevant safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Keep all school grounds, gardens and sporting areas clean, tidy and clearly marked.
- Manage turf and other landscaping tasks.
- Operate horticultural equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform minor repairs and ongoing maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Communicate and liaise with school staff to support a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Adhere to workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Demonstrated sound communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in maintaining grounds and gardens, including turf management.
- Experience in servicing horticultural or gardening equipment and performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of gardening methods and procedures, including the safe use and storage of gardening equipment, materials and chemicals.
Eligibility
- Obtain a valid Working With Children Check.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before starting.
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a visa that provides valid work rights for the term of the appointment.
