About the role

This operational role contributes to the success of the City by working alongside crews in the horticultural maintenance of high-profile parks, reserves and streetscapes within Hobart. The Team Leader Parks continually monitors, reviews and improves horticultural practices and work programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality open space services to the community.

Role accountabilities include:

- Providing leadership and direction within the parks operations unit.

- Implement and supervise work programs and promote contemporary horticultural practices.

- Assist the co‑ordinator in the development of annual programs for the Parks unit.

- Delivering high-level customer service to ratepayers and community representatives.

- Promoting and ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety and Child and Youth Safety standards.

You are an experienced horticulturalist and a hands‑on leader with a passion for horticulture and public spaces. You bring:

- Proven experience leading horticultural teams in high-profile parks.

- Strong planning and organisational skills to implement effective work programs.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

- A collaborative and safety‑focused approach to team leadership.

- Certificate III in Horticulture or a related field.

- A current Driver Licence and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (or willingness to obtain).

Desirable qualifications include a Medium Rigid Driver Licence, Basic Traffic Control, First Aid, and ChemCert.
