We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Airfield Operations Safety Manager to join our Aviation team.
The purpose of this role is to lead Airfield Safety functions across the Airfield Team and to influence a strong safety culture among all airfield users. The role will be accountable for airfield users and ensure that airfield incident investigations are robust, timely, and that actions are delivered upon. The Airfield Operations Safety Manager will promote safety activities to drive a strong airfield culture.

Key responsibilities:
- Ensure that company established processes regarding Airfield Incidents Investigations are followed, focusing on activities regulated by CASA, ATSB, or other aviation regulatory bodies.
- Drive accountability with ramp user organisations ensuring that investigation reports are delivered in a timely manner with acceptable content.
- Heavily influence ramp user organisations when investigations signal that action is required.
- Track overdue investigations and seek responses – escalate when needed.
- Lead safety campaigns across the airfield team and airfield users.
- Lead the Airfield PSI, working closely with corporate safety to ensure alignment.
- Implement safety promotion activities based on risks.
- Issue Airfield Safety Alerts.
- Work with Corporate Safety and use safety data to identify risk trends, rather than focusing solely on incidents.
- Contribute airfield content for reporting packages that inform weekly safety meetings, ASRC, SRC EXCO, and the Airfield Safety Committee.
- Collaborate with the Airfield Optimisation Manager on CI activities based on safety trend analysis.
- Administer Penalty Infringement Data.
- Work closely with all Airfield Leaders to ensure robust aviation incident reporting.
- Coordinate with the Corporate Safety Team to ensure aligned approaches and support safety initiatives and changes across the business.
- Lead, motivate, and develop the Airfield Safety Coordinator, supporting their functions.
- Participate as a key member of the Airfield Leadership Team, supporting other leaders in operations.
- Advise on changes needed to safety documentation within the airfield team and work with the Airfield Standards Manager to update them.
- Ensure all Airfield Team members are enabled to deliver best safety practices in line with company processes.
The successful candidate will have:
- Sound understanding of Airfield Operations.
- Strong stakeholder and influencing skills.
- Understanding of CASA MoS 139.
- Ability to interpret data and translate it into operational effectiveness.
- Deep understanding of safety practices and Aviation SMS.
- Qualification in incident investigations, e.g., ICAM.
- Proven experience in delivering positive safety change.
- Strong execution skills in action and change activities.
- Experience in auditing front-line operations and operational functions is desirable.
- Knowledge of Ground Handler Operations is preferred.
- Valid Airside Drivers Authority License.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Continuous Improvement mindset.
- Strong decision-making abilities.
