Job Overview

We are seeking to establish a pool of Teacher – Primary – Music for permanent, fixed‑term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

About Parkwood Primary School

Parkwood Primary School (PS) is a vibrant and inclusive community located at the eastern end of the Fremantle‑Pell Education District. Established in 1975, the school shares a boundary with Lynwood Senior High School, creating strong opportunities for community and cross‑school collaboration. Approximately 620 students from kindergarten to Year 6 are enrolled, including around 100 in our Intensive English Centre.

Our educators are dedicated to building a “school of excellence” where every child is supported to achieve personal success. The role requires placing student engagement, achievement and well‑being at the core of teaching, prioritising strong, respectful relationships with students, colleagues and families.

In 2026 we will add music as a specialist area. The ideal teacher will use contemporary pedagogical approaches aligned with the Quality Teaching Strategy and the Teaching for Impact framework and will embed the Berry Street Education Model school‑wide.

Role & Responsibilities

As a music specialist teacher, you will:

- Design and deliver engaging music lessons to primary students.

- Train and lead a school choir and whole‑school music program.

- Create and facilitate opportunities for students to showcase their strengths through performances, both in‑school and out‑of‑school.

- Support student engagement and achievement in music within the broader curriculum.

- Collaborate with teachers across the curriculum to incorporate music into learning outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

- Eligible teacher qualification and registration.

- Experience or understanding of working with students from EALD backgrounds.

- Demonstrated ability to model equity and excellence in all aspects of teaching.

- Capacity and enthusiasm to promote student engagement in a whole‑school music program.

- Commitment to creating opportunities for performance and celebration of student success.

- Planning and delivery experience for school‑level music activities (e.g., choir, concerts).
