This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Sydney CBD. There are approximately 350 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 400 staff by end of 2025. Overseas on the ground presence includes USA, Denmark, Mexico, and UAE, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.

About the role

The position is a part of Quality Engineering team and reports to the Senior Compliance Engineer. The role is focused on advocating for compliance and testing of our products to support regulatory compliance and testing within cross-functional engineering teams, ensuring our products meet global market access requirements, applicable regulatory standards, industry standards and customer specifications.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

- Manage the process of obtaining certifications and approval from regulatory bodies for new and existing products within agreed project timelines.
- Work with the development teams to ensure products are designed and developed in accordance with applicable industry and regulatory compliance standards
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation that demonstrates our operations and products are compliant with relevant regulations
- Oversee internal and external compliance testing and validation activities including preparing test artefacts and test plans for internal testing and third-party test houses
- Continuously monitor changes in compliance regulations and industry best practices and identify impact on existing products.
- Management of standards and purchase of product standards when required.
- Support documentation and management of product configurations, identifying when re-certification or compliance issues may arise from engineering design changes.
- Involvement in the approval process of external wireless devices to support our live test site operations.
- Provide guidance to engineering teams on relevant compliance requirements during design phase and verification.
- Assist in responding to RFI’s with regards to standards, regulations and legislation.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

- BS or Masters degree in relevant engineering discipline (B. Tech, Systems Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering), or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience with a focus on compliance within complex project environments.
- Hands-on experience engaging with test houses to managing compliance and test programs to certify products within complex regulatory environments
- Experience with compliance standards relevant to the defence technology and RF communication industry (examples include FCC, CE, RCM, ACMA, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810).
- Experience in the successful development and delivery of complex products within a regulated environment.
- Understanding of cybersecurity practices in systems engineering to ensure the integrity and security of systems is desirable.
- You are comfortable working within the Atlassian ecosystem and have experience managing project deliverables using Jira or other project management tools.
- You would excel in a high empowerment, fast paced, environment, surrounded by likeminded, high achieving people.
