Imagine preventing wildfires before they start, or ensuring power grids stay resilient during extreme weather. That’s the real-world impact we create every day at Neara.
We build 3D physics-enabled digital twins of critical infrastructure networks that help utilities and infrastructure companies run scenarios, assess risks, and make smarter decisions that affect millions of lives.
We’re not just another tech company - we’re one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies 2024. We're making tangible differences in communities worldwide. And we're backed by some of the world’s leading venture capital investors.
Our team is passionate, brilliant, and genuinely excited about solving problems that matter. We’ve built something special here: a culture where everyone owns our mission, innovation thrives, and great work gets recognized. And now we’re ready for our next chapter of growth.
As a Civil Engineering SME within the development team, you will serve as the primary civil engineering subject matter expert within our development team while contributing to the design and implementation of product features and services within our digital twin platform's critical infrastructure. WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Define and validate civil engineering requirements for platform features, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Conduct technical reviews of algorithms and models to ensure engineering accuracy, safety standards, and domain compliance.
- Contribute to technical planning and estimation while sharing domain expertise and identifying execution risks early.
- Work with various data sources including LiDAR, aerial photography, photogrammetry, and geospatial data to create precise models.
- Write production-quality code and build data pipelines to support platform functionality.
- Develop simulation engines and algorithms that accurately model infrastructure across millions of assets using imperfect field data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex domain problems into clear technical requirements and solutions.
- Design, build, and maintain platform components that meet performance and accuracy requirements.
WHO YOU ARE
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, codes, and standards
- Familiar with civil engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS applications, structural analysis software).
- Experience with geospatial data processing and analysis and understanding of infrastructure modeling and simulation methodologies.
- Experience in Java, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript/HTML/CSS, or WebGL.
- Experience with digital twin platforms, infrastructure modeling, or similar technical applications preferred.
- Experience in technical planning and estimation for engineering software projects.
- Experience in designing and validating engineering models and simulations within the SDLC preferred.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
WHAT WE WILL OFFER YOU
- Competitive salary & meaningful ESOP
- Fully flexible working arrangements with a well-stocked office in Redfern
- Regular office events
- The real benefit is working on a genuinely complex, innovative and industry-leading product, making a genuine difference in the world around us.
