The opportunity

The City of Mandurah is looking for a first-year apprentice. To be successful you need to be self-motivated, reliable, have a positive attitude and wanting to kick-start your career in the mechanical trade.

As an apprentice you will complete a Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology (Mobile Plant Equipment) (AUR31220) while gaining practical knowledge and skills in heavy duty plant, small plant equipment, diesel and petrol powered vehicles. You will have exposure to a broad range of service repairs and maintenance activities such as engines, hydraulics, brakes, electrical, air-conditioning, transmissions, suspensions and small fabrication work associated with the automotive mechanical industry.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Successful completion of Year 12

- Demonstrated work experience in the trade, and/or pre-apprenticeship Certificate II pathway

- Mechanical aptitude

- Genuine interest in the trade

- Current driver’s licence

- Self-motivated and keen to learn

- Can-do attitude

- Ability to problem solve

- Commitment to safetyAbility to follow instructions

- Be a confident communicator

- Good initiative

- A strong team player

- Computer skills with the ability to operate MS Office software packages, tablets and mobile devices
