Job Description
This role sits in the Recreation Services branch and will join the team at Lords Recreation Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a wonderful, vibrant and exciting atmosphere for clients while exercising, whilst also providing a high-quality service to all gym users.
The key responsibilities of this role are:
- To provide assistance to clients in the Gymnasium.
- Conducting gym appraisals, fitness tests and writing subsequent training programs for members.
- Taking new members through medical history as part of gym consultations and seeking doctors’ clearance for exercise prescription where necessary.
- Plan and present small group training classes to a wide demographic of ages and fitness levels on the gym floor
- To develop and implement health and fitness related workshops and challenges for member engagement.
- To ensure all facilities are presented at the highest level of cleanliness and presentation at all times.
- To ensure all fitness equipment and surrounding fittings are safe, in good working order and the gymnasium is hazard free at all times.
- Perform monthly maintenance checks on all pieces of gym equipment and advise the Team Leader Health and Fitness of equipment repairs and needs as required.
- To clean and maintain gym equipment.
- Conduct aquatic water tests and record results and perform cleaning and maintenance tasks when requested.
- To be proactive in maintaining a safe and hygienic work environment through the effective supervision of customers.
- Ensure all work areas are kept in a safe, clean and tidy condition so all operations are systematically carried out in a clean environment.
- Other duties within the skills, knowledge and experience of the incumbent as required.

Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Certificate III and IV in Fitness or relevant tertiary level qualification in Health and Fitness.
- Maintained Working with Children Check Card.
- Knowledge of rules, regulations and guidelines in relation to conducting gymnasium and fitness activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Current Senior First Aid & CPR certificate.
Salary
Salary package:
In line with the City of Subiaco Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025, this position is classified as a Level 3 and the salary range is $32.96 to $36.26, exclusive of superannuation.
