Position Information
Chatswood High School is a partially selective school located on Sydney's north shore. Students benefit and thrive from our diverse and differentiated curriculum which is designed to maximise every student's potential. Our students thrive across academic pursuits, athletic competitions, and artistic expression. Our Talented Athletes Program, together with our diverse extra-curricular opportunities, empowers students to excel across a wide range of interests. In 2025 we have established The Chatswood High School Institute for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers. Chatswood High School has a current enrolment of 2160 students, including 81% students from a non-English speaking background. Our school has several components that make it a dynamic and complex educational institution. The Year 7-12 component of the high school is made up of a mainstream enrolment who are our local students. Entry into Year 7 can also be made through the High Performing Students Unit into the Academically Selective Stream. The third mode of entry into the school is through the Department of Education Access Program that allows entry into one of the classes in the Support Unit. Chatswood High School utilises explicit teaching to support teaching and learning across the school. Chatswood High School is a high-performing school with dedicated staff, and an engaged parent community.
Specific Selection Criteria

2. Proven high-impact leadership in school operations, with strong communication, organisation and management skills to oversee complex daily functions in a large and diverse school setting.
3. Proven ability to collaborate with the executive team to lead strategic learning initiatives by driving whole-school programs that maximise student leaning outcomes.
4. Demonstrated experience in successfully managing complex wellbeing and behaviour matters, fostering engagement, attendance and a positive culture across a diverse student population.
5. Demonstrated experience in leading high-impact professional learning by building teacher capacity to deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction for a wide range of learners that supports the School Excellence Plan.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
