The Energy and Water Ombudsman (Victoria) (EWOV) is a not-for-profit, independent and impartial dispute resolution service. We proudly provide Victorian energy and water consumers with free, accessible, and informal dispute resolution.Find out more about who we are and what we do here .
Your new role and team
The Finance and Operations team is responsible for the effective delivery of the strategic and operational management of EWOV’s financial services and processes. The team drives the annual budgeting and reporting, board reporting, preparation of financial statements, payroll processing, and accounts receivable.This team is also responsible for ensuring EWOVs operational effectiveness including our facilities, procurement and office space.
As our new Finance and Operations Officer, you will bring your emerging experience in finance, and accounting to support core financial processes, while also contributing to operational areas such as facilities management and contracts administration. This role offers the opportunity to also work closely with the General Manager, Finance and Operations on strategic projects, organisational change initiatives and data analysis. You will gain hands on experience contribute to the inner workings of a not- for-profit organisation and develop a strong foundation in both financial and operational management.
This position offers full-time hours, with potential consideration for part-time arrangement for the right candidate.
To help you succeed in this role you’ll need to bring:
- Tertiary qualification (or near completion) in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and support operational processes with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative approach to working across teams and service areas.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a steady and reliable workflow.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, including identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance systems, and improve service delivery.
- Familiarity with finance systems (e.g. Business Central, Xero, MYOB) is advantageous, along with a general comfort working with financial data and documentation.
