Key responsibilities
Responsible for the implementation, support, and operation of relevant Unix and related technologies from build through to implementation and system maintenance
Provide technical standards and solutions to meet business needs within technical area of expertise
Perform aspects of development, implementation and support of infrastructure across the organisation
Monitor, maintain and respond to incidents and problems in accordance with Production Systems SLA’s
Develop detailed designs for new and existing technologies to enable deployment throughout the business.
Manage assigned technologies, with consideration for: return on investment, life cycle management, business continuity planning, service level management, and security.
Provide professional technical expertise and advice as appropriate.

Skills and experience
At least 5 years relevant technical experience
Demonstrated technical understanding of relevant technologies
Demonstrated experience and understanding of technology trends and issues
Demonstrated experience in maintaining and supporting enterprise based computing infrastructure in a large scale, complex and distributed business environment
Demonstrated capabilities in automation on Unix systems
Demonstrated ability to write instructional documentation.

Areas of Accountability
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the latest trends and offerings of the range of relevant computing products used within the organisation
Develop and implement relevant computing products ensuring that all projects are delivered to expectations within agreed time frames
Develop appropriate planning as required (capacity plans, business continuity plans, etc)
Build, upgrade and manage relevant products in a production landscape and to a vendor supported level when available
Solve routine and non-routine technical issues
Develop expertise in one or more technologies and ensure expertise is communicated to other team members
Detailed understanding of security issues and best practices
Positive team feedback
Procedures and tools implemented in full
Performance meets requirements (AD&P)
Successful disaster recovery tests
Technical designs established to satisfy business needs and agreed standards
Technical requirements delivered to schedule
No disk space or capacity issues
Product performance metrics
No adverse audit findings
Reduction in repeatable problems
Minimal Impact to business operations

Role Delivery
Understand and work within process and standards parameters
Understand and work within the risk framework and ensure appropriate quality standards are applied in all instances
Document detailed designs and procedures for the ongoing support of the infrastructure
Ensure periodic reviews and updates occur
Ensure utilisation of technology is in line with published strategies and architectures
Ensure appropriate quality and security standards are applied in all instances
Provide consultancy to other team members
Assist in the creation and maintenance of standards for product design, implementation and management
