The Community Assistant is expected to act as a leader, role model, mentor, resource and support. The primary objective is to foster a community environment that eases the student transition into college/university. They are responsible for facilitating social and educational programs and creating a safe, respectful environment.

1. Essential Functions and Basic Duties

- Help students find their home away from home by making appointments, conducting tours, maintaining show rooms, and completing marketing follow-up processes needed to secure leases.
- Report to the General Manager.
- Provide unparalleled customer service and respect for residents while supporting all CLC policies and procedures.
- Enthusiastically assist with the implementation of marketing efforts on‑campus, in the community, and at special events and encourage residents to attend and/or participate.
- Assist with the preparation and administration of Turn, Move‑In, and Move‑Out.
- Work scheduled “Community Assistant On‑Call” shifts, which may include weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Other duties as assigned

Health & Safety

- Works in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, regulations and internal policies and procedures and reports any contraventions to their supervisor.
- Uses or wears the equipment, protective devices or clothing that Campus Living Centres requires.
- Reports to the appropriate supervisor(s) any hazards, missing or defective equipment or protective device which could endanger any person.
- Does not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.
- Reports any risks or potential risks of violence or harassment encountered in the workplace immediately to supervisor.
- Knows, understands and implements safe work practices and procedures and employs established rules and procedures for handling materials, equipment and processes (e.g. reporting unlabeled containers, using proper lifting techniques, etc.)
- Requests that worn out or defective equipment be replaced, when appropriate.
- Uses equipment and materials only in the manner intended.
- Reports any injuries, incidents and unusual conditions immediately to supervisor.
- Inspects the work area and equipment daily and reports any hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Attends all required health and safety training programs (e.g. WHMIS, orientation), and applies knowledge to daily operating procedures at Campus Living Centres.

2. Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma and Diploma in progress from accredited College or University

Skills/Abilities: Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
Must possess proficient computer skills in a Windows environment
Must possess superior positive attitude
Must possess exceptional attention to detail
Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced and at times stressful environment
Ability to act as a customer relations liaison for residents, prospective residents and parents

Experience Required: Maintain a minimum GPA and class load as determined by the property management guidelines

Travel Outside of Location: Minimal travel to regional offices for meetings and training sessions or activities as required.

Physical Demand: Light

Physical Requirements: Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, extend arms and hands forward and overhead, finger and grasp. Must occasionally bend, crouch or stoop. Must be able to lift and carry up to a minimum of 15lbs. Must have record of good vision.
