Position Information

Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College Berkeley Vale Campus is a 7–10 campus (enrolment 853 students, including 14% Aboriginal students). The campus is part of Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College. 54 teachers provide students and families with service, dedication and care supported by the school community. We provide a quality, balanced and comprehensive education program. An enriched curriculum caters for diverse learning needs through differentiation and high expectation. Our school’s success is underpinned by two key elements that promote quality teaching and learning programs - Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and Differentiation.

Responsibilities

- Lead the Mathematics program for Years 7–10, 11–12 and Mathematics Extension; contribute to the Whole School Programs; implement and model explicit teaching with a focus on effective feedback; lead the implementation, reflection and refinement of the Year 7–10 Mathematics syllabus with a strong emphasis on Working Mathematically; foster collaboration and a shared understanding of the new Stage 6 Mathematics syllabus.
- Demonstrate strong visible leadership with experience in developing a culture of consistency and high expectations with staff, students and the community.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria

Specific Selection Criteria: Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. 1) Approval to teach Mathematics (7–10), Mathematics (11–12) and Mathematics Extension. 2) Ability to lead whole school programs. 3) Experience and leadership of the explicit teaching model with a focus on effective feedback. 4) Capacity to lead the implementation and refinement of the Year 7–10 Mathematics syllabus, with emphasis on Working Mathematically, and to support collaboration for the Stage 6 Mathematics syllabus. 5) Strong visible leadership to develop a culture of consistency and high expectations with staff, students and the community.
General Selection Criteria: 1) Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice. 2) Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead inclusive teaching and learning programs. 3) Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance. 4) Well developed communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, staff and parents. 5) Ability to plan and manage resources effectively to support teaching and learning. 6) Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
