Position Information

Schofields Public School is in the Northwest growth area of Sydney. The school has grown rapidly over the past six years, with current enrolment of 1180 students. 78% of students have a language background other than English and 2% of students have an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background. The school has 50 classes including five inclusive support classes. The school enjoys strong support from parents who value academic excellence, high standards and a love of learning.

A major upgrade is underway at the school including 24 classrooms, staff rooms and amenities. A collaborative team-teaching approach is central to building collective teacher efficacy and embedding effective teaching practice in each classroom.

School Excellence drives the strategic directions of the school with a future focus of High Potential and Gifted Education, data driven collaborative practice and differentiated instruction.

Specific Selection Criteria

- In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary;

- 1. Demonstrated capacity to work as part of a dynamic leadership team, balancing exemplary classroom practice with the complexities of a leadership role

- 2. Ability to lead staff in the implementation of curriculum requirements, use of syllabus documents and development of high-quality teaching and learning programs aligned with the NSW Curriculum and School Excellence Plan

- 3. Demonstrated experience and expertise in using evidence-based and data-informed practices to drive continuous improvement, with a focus on growth for all students

- 4. Proven ability to lead with integrity and emotional intelligence, fostering authentic connections and collaborative partnerships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community to enhance learning and wellbeing across the school

General Selection Criteria

- 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
