Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Financial Analyst - Finance Systems to join a highly respected firm in Sydney on a 2 year fixed contract. This hybrid position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of management accounting and finance technology, delivering insightful analysis, robust reporting, and process optimisation to support business performance and senior leadership with accurate financial information.

You will lead the administration and enhancement of key finance systems such as IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), with a strong focus on collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing. What you'll do

- Deliver timely and accurate monthly and quarterly management reports, including detailed analysis of performance, variances, and trends to inform business decisions.
- Support annual planning, forecasting, and budgeting cycles by developing robust models and conducting scenario analysis to guide resource allocation.
- Partner with Finance and Project teams to offer financial insights and recommendations that empower leaders across departments.
- Monitor departmental and project costs with precise allocation and effective cost management throughout the organisation.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy by performing reconciliations and journal entries while supporting internal and external audits.
- Act as the subject matter expert for IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), overseeing system maintenance, audits, troubleshooting, upgrades, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity across financial systems by documenting workflows, processes, and system changes from a Finance perspective.
- Lead Finance input into the design and implementation of new systems or enhancements, and collaborate with IT to optimise system configuration while maintaining security, recovery measures, and resilience.
- Identify automation opportunities within reporting, forecasting, and analysis processes to streamline workflows and improve efficiency across Finance.
- Provide technical support and training to Finance users of TM1 and other applications by developing best-practice materials to improve system adoption.

What you bring

- Significant experience in management accounting combined with proven expertise in financial analysis and reporting within complex organisations.
- Proven proficiency in administering finance systems such as IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), including system maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and performance monitoring.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles with deep knowledge of management reporting cycles, planning, and forecasting methodologies.
- Experience managing costs using charge-back or cost-recovery models and producing clear performance reports for diverse audiences.
- Advanced skills in financial modelling and scenario planning, strong Excel abilities, and familiarity with data visualisation tools.
- Proven track record documenting workflows, managing integrations between systems, and delivering process automation initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders across Finance, IT, senior leadership, and business units.
- Project management experience from leading or supporting finance-related systems implementations or process improvement initiatives.
