Senior Software Engineer - Data Orchestration
Feedzai is the world’s first RiskOps platform for financial risk management, and the market leader in safeguarding global commerce with today’s most advanced cloud-based risk management platform, powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence. Feedzai is securing the transition to a cashless world while enabling digital trust in every transaction and payment type. The world’s largest banks, processors, and retailers trust Feedzai to protect trillions of dollars and manage risk while improving the customer experience for everyday users, without compromising privacy. Feedzai is a Series D company and has raised $282M to date. With a valuation of +$1.5B, the company's technology protects 900 million people in 190 countries.
The Engineering (Tech) Team is responsible for all Feedzai product development. Together with Product Management and Data Science, we build the next generation of tools to catch fraud in real-time with a machine learning first approach. Formed by engineers and managed by engineers, at Feedzai, you will find one of the most talented teams out there, from junior to senior engineers.
We are fast-paced and provide a safe, open, and collaborative environment that encourages us to lean in, try new things and discover our potential with continuous learning for everyone.
While building the best value for our customers, you will work with a wide range of technical challenges. Such as building distributed systems that need to operate 24/7 and ultra-low latencies, solving UI/UX problems to help fraud analysts to fight fraud more efficiently. In addition, designing extensive databases from relational, NoSQL and graphs, validate and develop new data science techniques and algorithms. Data and Data Engineering is at the heart of what we do.
You:
As a Software Engineer, you will be part of the team responsible for developing the Feedzai Orchestration. Technically, this product deals with challenges around large volume data, diverse data sources (internal and external), data orchestration and transformation, and integration of an ecosystem of external and internal data providers into a cohesive whole. The product is used directly by end users, ranging from Data Engineers, Business Analysts and Data scientists.
While the Feedzai Orchestration Solution has several applications wherever there is data wrangling and orchestration needs, the north star use case is Account Opening. This product allows financial institutions to onboard new clients safely, as they subscribe for the very first banking product and throughout their lifecycle as a customer of the bank.
As the entrance to the bank, Account Opening protects the institution and legit customers against critical risks such as identity theft or synthetic identities. Moreover, it is the first layer of protection against the proliferation of mule accounts, used to move funds originated in fraud with the goal of laundering it.
Our philosophy across Engineering includes the following key ideas, which you will have a key role promoting in your team:
- Teams operate with a “you build it, you run it” DevOps mindset, taking end-to-end ownership of development, deployment, and operations. You'll drive a culture focused on automation, observability, and operational excellence, enabling continuous delivery with confidence.
- Architecture evolves towards a decoupled, microservice-based architecture, positioning it to scale efficiently in a multi-tenant, cloud-native environment. This effort is central to Feedzai’s long-term vision and product evolution
Your Day to Day:
- Iterate within an Agile squad to turn product ideas into shippable increments across the entire stack—from Scala micro‑services to other languages.
- Write idiomatic, reusable Scala all covered by unit, property‑based and integration tests; uphold quality through rigorous code reviews.
- Even though your primary focus will be backend engineering, you’ll often be expected to deliver end‑to‑end solutions—from building APIs to touching frontend components.
- With your team, operate across the full SDLC—design, implement, test, deploy, observe, maintainandrefine software services.
- Collaborate tightly with Product & Design to translate UX wire‑frames into accessible, performant interfaces and iterate based on customer feedback.
- Champion engineering excellence by documenting decisions, sharing knowledge in guild sessions and mentoring peers across front‑ and back‑end domains.
You Have & You Know‑how:
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science (or equivalent) with strong algorithms, data‑structures and distributed‑systems fundamentals.
- 4+ years building production JVM back‑ends with Scala as a primary language (Cats‑Effect, ZIO, Akka, or similar)
- Proven ability to develop high‑performance, concurrent services and APIs (REST, gRPC, GraphQL, event‑driven).
- Hands‑on with modern data & messaging platforms (Kafka, Spark/Flink, Cassandra/DynamoDB, RabbitMQ or Pulsar) and comfortable working with them at scale.
- A growth mindset: curiosity, autonomy and the drive to learn, experiment and teach.
- Nice to have Cloud expertise—AWS services, container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS), observability stacks, IaC and automated multi‑environment deployments (back‑end & front‑end).
- Nice to have experience working with a modern data stack (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, DuckDB, dbt, Airflow, Dagster, etc).
- Nice to have front‑end experience with React (or another modern JS framework) and TypeScript.
The Product Team builds our product to disrupt the financial crime industry from a data-led approach. We partner with our clients using a holistic lens and have result-driven solutions to manage financial risk with a cloud-first platform and a world-class UX interface. Being part of this team, you have a voice in planning, strategizing, and challenging the status quo. Your thoughts and ideas are valued. Our fast-paced and open environment encourages us to lean in, try new things, and discover our potential. We define and act on what could be in tomorrow's world, not on what is today. Join Us
