About the Role

Take on an exciting 12-month contract with WWG and immerse yourself in the innovative world of fit-for-purpose apparel design. This role offers the unique opportunity to create high-performance, functional, and commercially viable products that meet the specific needs of diverse clients. You’ll bring customer design briefs to life, crafting solutions that deliver exceptional functionality and align with brand positioning and business goals.

This is your chance to expand your design portfolio and contribute to WWG’s reputation as a leader in the uniform industry. By driving creativity and innovation, you'll push the boundaries of what workwear can achieve while delivering outstanding results that exceed customer expectations.

What you’ll be doing

- Conduct proactive research into trends in fabrications, construction, trims, technology, and accessories to inspire innovative, fit-for-purpose designs.
- Develop commercially viable product lines that align with WWG requirements and customer design briefs.
- Critically analyse and improve existing products and client ranges for enhanced functionality and performance.
- Create comprehensive technical specifications to ensure accurate product development.
- Oversee fitting appraisals, collaborating with relevant teams to ensure optimal product fit and quality.
- Manage adherence to critical path timelines while identifying and implementing strategies to streamline development processes.
- Address roadblocks with a solutions-focused approach to improve speed and efficiency in product development.
- Ensure product compliance through thorough wearer trials, quality testing, and risk assessments.
- Design cost-effective products that meet FOB price targets by optimizing materials and construction methods.
- Monitor sampling and testing phases to ensure product viability and performance standards are met.

What we’re looking for

- 4+ years in a designer role
- Experience in workwear, performance apparel, menswear, jacketing, outerwear or similar would be high regarded
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage own time and priorities to achieve goals
- Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing at all levels
- Strong eye for detail and accuracy
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
