Overview

We are seeking a Senior Structural Transmission Line Engineer to join our team. You will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects including wind, solar, battery storage, pumped hydro and utilities works (transmission and distribution substations, switchyards and lines) for a broad range of clients.

Responsibilities

- Contribute to the design and delivery of structural (lattice) engineering for transmission lines and substations.
- Engage in projects involving transmission and distribution substations, switchyards and lines, across a variety of client sectors.
- Collaborate with teams across Tasmanian and other locations, with potential local, national and international travel as project needs dictate.

Qualifications

- Tertiary qualifications in Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), acceptable for admission as a professional engineer to Engineers Australia, or equivalent professional body.
- At least 10 years' experience in structural (Lattice structures) design work, with emphasis on transmission line and substation structural design.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards: AS/NZS 7000, AS 4100, AS 3600, AS 3995 and AS 1170.
- Experience in computer design packages such as PLS Tower, PLS Pole; development of conductor loads for transmission and substation structures.
- Experience in the development of conductor attachment point loads for transmission and substation structures using the Limit State design method.
- Experience in analysis of lattice towers, poles and gantry structures, as well as lattice tower member connection detailing and design.
- Experience in existing tower augmentation and strengthening works for TL upgrade projects.
- Ability to solve complex technical and operational problems, through systematic approaches or innovation.
- Previous experience in an engineering design consultancy environment.

Location & Travel

This role is ideally based in our Tasmanian office; flexible work arrangements are considered. Given the diversity of our clients and projects, some local, national and international travel may be required.
