About the role

The role of the Case Support Worker is to work cooperatively with Nugel case managers and under the direction of the Nugel team leader, to ensure that culturally appropriate court ordered contact is maintained between children and their families. The case support worker will provide transport for children and/or supervision of the contact as required, as well as providing transport for other purposes to support the child’s needs.

About You

- Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities

- Demonstrated experience in working and engaging with Aboriginal families and children

- Demonstrated experience in child and family sector

- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the values that underpin VACCA’s vision and purpose and the capacity to take a leadership role in championing these internally and externally

- Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team

- An ability to be flexible in supervising contact across a range of venues

Desirable

- Experience or formal qualifications in Social Work, Family Support, or Family Welfare

- Aboriginal applicants are strongly encouraged to apply, and support can be provided to pursue formal qualifications

- Experience and training in any form of conciliation convening will be an asset

- An ability to engage with families so that contact is a positive experience

Requirements

- Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID‑19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended).
