Purpose / Objective
The Asylum Seekers Centre’s Communications team is seeking a volunteer to support our communication programs, messages, and materials. This position is best suited for those who have visual storytelling skills and professional experience in graphic design who wish to offer their skills and/or services in-kind to help the ASC.

Reports to: Communication and Digital Marketing Specialist

Commitment Period: Minimum 3 months

Days and hours required per week: Flexible (2-5 hours per week) - Remote volunteering position

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Create compelling visual assets for social media, website updates, and presentation templates that align with our brand style and resonate with our supporters.

2. Repurpose written content into visual content such as infographics.

3. Contribute to our content strategy by generating ideas for content and creating visuals to support it.

4. Regular progress check-ins with the Communications team (flexible timing).

Selection Criteria

- Advanced graphic design skills (showcased through a portfolio or reel).

- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva (desirable).

- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff and volunteers.

- Flexibility and willingness to take on additional tasks as needed.

- Ability to adhere to policies regarding conduct, boundaries, and confidentiality.

- Undertake a NSW Working with Children Check prior to starting and keep it up-to-date.

- Support a child-safe environment by undergoing screening for working with children and vulnerable people, complying with relevant legislation.
