The Role:

The Maintenance Officer/Gardener is responsible for completion of maintenance/handyman and gardening duties for Lutheran Aged Care Albury, as detailed below.

Position Objectives:

- Completion of all maintenance and repair work in a timely and professional manner;
- Minor building and construction work as directed;
- To ensure that the grounds of Lutheran Aged Care (LAC) are presented in an optimal manner at all times;
- To assist with the maintenance and development of gardens as directed;
- Complete cleaning tasks to ensure LAC grounds are always visually appealing;
- Undertake mowing, whipper-snipping and edging of grassed areas as required;
- Provide input into the requirements for the maintenance and repair of equipment;
- Assist with the LAC weed and pest eradication programs as required;
- To participate in WH&S programs to ensure that regulatory requirements, risk management, injury management and staff consultation processes are implemented
- To follow policies and procedures as detailed in the Quality Manuals.

- Good Communication skills (oral and written)

- Demonstrated understanding of the Aged Care or Health Industry

- Ability to work with minimum of supervision, organise, set priorities and meet target deadlines

- Experience in undertaking a broad range of trade/handyman tasks appropriate to qualifications
- Experience in maintaining and developing outdoor assets

It is a requirement for this role that the occupant participates in the after-hours on-call roster and possesses a current and valid driver’s licence.

- Identify organisational needs and discuss with Maintenance Manager
- Clarify the needs of clients/staff and follow up appropriately

- Ensure equipment and systems are maintained in a ready condition
- Identify system needs and discuss with Maintenance Manager
- Participate in ongoing training to maximise use of technology

Organisational

- Co-ordinate own work routine with Maintenance Manager
- Prepare reports from information provided as necessary
- Participate in OH&S program including hazard identification and reporting programs

Team

- Work collaboratively with other members of the maintenance team
- Commitment to the principle of team dynamics
- Clarify tasks to achieve goals of the team
- Contribute to the effective operation of the team by contributing at staff and team meetings
- Undertake tasks/maintenance with regards to appropriate consideration for managing LAC physical and financial resources.
