Registrar - Trainee - Medical Administration. This is a Fixed Term Full Time appointment for 12 months commencing as soon as possible, with the possibility of extension(s).

Salary: Registrar Year 1-3 $178,223 to $194,925 p.a. or Health Service Medical Practitioner (HSMP) Years 1-6 $300,622 to $377,620 p.a. North of the 26th parallel. Rates as at 1 July 2025. The appointment will be made based on current relevant skills and experience.

Position profile

We are keen to welcome a motivated Medical Administration Registrar (MAR) to our team at Broome Hospital. The service is entering an exciting period of growth and transition, with planning well underway for service expansion and redevelopment.

The MAR will work with the specialist (FRACMA) Director of Medical Services at Broome Hospital to provide professional leadership and guidance on strategic and operational projects, with a focus on clinical governance, accreditation, service development and general medical administration duties.

This is an accredited Specialist Training Position. The MAR must be enrolled as a trainee with the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) to satisfy the selection criterion of demonstrated commitment towards training as a specialist medical administrator.

WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest country health system in Australia, serving approximately half a million people across Western Australia. The Kimberley region features Broome, the regional resource centre for the Kimberley, with a 60-bed hospital serving a resident population of about 17,000 (increasing to 55,000 during peak tourist season).

Salary & benefits

Registrar Year 1-3 $178,223 to $194,925 p.a. (North of the 26th parallel) – includes base salary $147,748 to $162,661 p.a., Professional Development allowance $11,380 p.a. and 12% employer-contributed superannuation. Rates as at 1 July 2025.

Health Service Medical Practitioner (HSMP) Years 1-6 $300,622 to $377,620 p.a. (North of the 26th parallel) – includes base salary $226,833 to $293,564 p.a., Professional Development allowance $34,696 p.a. and 12% employer-contributed superannuation. Rates as at 1 July 2025.

The HSMP salary range applies to RACMA trainees with more than 3 years of full-time medical administration training experience. Appointment will be made based on current relevant skills and experience.

Qualifications and requirements

- Applicants must hold General AHPRA Registration
- Minimum of 4 years of clinical experience
- Currently enrolled as a trainee in the RACMA specialist training program for the 2026 training year
