City of Melbourne, Australia Melbourne Water Corporation Full time

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.

As caretakers for Melbourne’s water cycle, we care for water, life and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a backyard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra, we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home, just as we have for over 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you're in the right place.

About The Role

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this full-time, permanent role sits within the IT team. As Senior Manager, Enterprise Applications, you will be responsible for ensuring core applications are dependable, secure, and meet business requirements. Working closely with colleagues responsible for technology strategy and major projects, the role supports the smooth transition of strategic initiatives into ongoing operations, strengthens agile practices, and promotes effective service delivery through strong stakeholder relationships, team leadership, and attention to operational performance.

In this role you will:

Enterprise Applications Stewardship

- Ensure application availability, performance, and support in line with business SLAs.
- Lead the full application lifecycle management, including upgrades, patching, and vendor coordination.

DevOps Delivery Leadership

- Lead long-lived DevOps development teams, ensuring alignment with product owners and business priorities.
- Ensure teams are resourced, supported, and empowered to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Operational Collaboration

- Partner closely with peer roles responsible for technology strategy and major project delivery.
- Provide operational and delivery focused input and feedback on strategic initiatives.
- Ensure smooth handover and integration of strategic projects into BAU operations and agile teams.

Stakeholder Engagement & Service Management

- Act as a primary point of contact for business stakeholders regarding enterprise applications and agile delivery.
- Manage service expectations, incident resolution, and enhancement requests.
- Drive user satisfaction and system adoption across the enterprise.
- Lead cross functional collaboration between business units, IT teams, and external vendors to ensure shared understanding and alignment.
- Foster a high performance and safe culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Financial & Risk Oversight

- Manage operational budgets for enterprise applications and agile teams.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to system operations, delivery bottlenecks, and team capacity.

About You

- Tertiary Qualification in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Certified in ITIL, PMP/PRINCE2, and Agile/Scrum methodologies (e.g., SAFe, Scrum Master).
- Extensive experience in senior technology leadership, driving enterprise-wide digital initiatives and agile transformation.
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale enterprise applications e.g. HR, Finance, Procurement, and other corporate functions.
- Highly skilled in leading agile product/platform teams and implementing DevOps practices in complex environments.
- Experience in vendor & contract management; vendor relations, contract negotiation, and SLA governance.
- Developed technology operations experience in service delivery, incident management, and continuous improvement.
- Strong Stakeholder Engagement with experience in translating technical concepts into business value and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience building, developing and leading high performing and empowered teams.
