The Role

The Tweed Valley Department of Medicine is seeking dedicated Unaccredited Medical Registrars for 2026. This rotational program offers four 3-month clinical terms annually, providing comprehensive experience across diverse medical specialities in a supportive learning environment.

Tweed Valley Hospital will be your primary site, and your rotations may include a 3-month placement in Byron Bay or Murwillumbah General Medicine units. We can be flexible to your needs and we'll discuss your preferences for rotations and facilities during the interview process, with final placements confirmed upon acceptance.

Areas of Rotation:

- General and Acute Medicine (Tweed Valley, Byron, Murwillumbah)
- Haematology
- Oncology
- Renal
- Geriatric Medicine
- Infectious Diseases
- Hospital in the Home
- Relief (coverage across all departments, plus Cardiology & Palliative Care)

All registrars contribute equally to after-hours shifts and participate in a relief term, ensuring comprehensive exposure to our department's full scope.

Responsibilities:

The primary purpose of the Unaccredited Trainee in General Medicine is to provide safe and high quality care, assess and manage, under supervision, Medical patients.

Requirements:

- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
- Adept ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
- Adept ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services
- Proficient verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences
- Sound ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
- Commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of Adult Internal Medicine
