As a Senior Consultant – Operational Risk Management, you will be responsible for leveraging your leadership and consulting skills to enhance our impact in client engagements, aimed at leading teams and project portfolios identifying, designing and implementing effective solutions across a broad range of technical expertise.
You will create an impact on client engagements by:
- Leveraging your strong foundation in consulting skills to enhance our impact in client engagements and by continuously developing our service offering.
- Applying your coaching and facilitations skills to support the capability development of operational and functional Leaders.
- Working in tandem with managers to prepare technical and commercial proposals.
- Independently managing end-to-end projects, identifying areas of improvement of new processes and designing and implementing effective solutions within your area of expertise.
- Independently undertaking and leading the analysis, including quantitative and qualitative evaluations of results, and preparation of reports and presentations to be used in client engagements and business development.
- Engaging clients across scoping, proposal preparation, project management and implementation at their sites.
- Leading clients through meetings, interviews and workshops at various stages of the project lifecycle.
- Possessing strong industry knowledge and staying abreast with current trends, pricing and new technology related to industry or technical practice.
- Developing project work plans, progress trackers and status reports, alongside being able to identify project critical paths, project risk, mitigation plans and issues management.
- Working closely with Senior Subject Matter Experts to assist in delivering and co-delivering workstreams.
Internally, you will be involved in:
- Building effective working relationships regionally and participating in global technical communities to ensure a strong network of resources, alongside possessing a network of regional contacts.
- Contributing to the development and/or enhancement of existing dss+ IP and engaging with functional/ industry peers to support continued methodology development.
- Participating and contributing to functional and/or industry networks with the aim of developing and sharing best practices, developing and enhancing dss+ intellectual property and sharing thought leadership.

- You are proficient in Operational Risk Management methodologies, operational risk management, safety culture transformation, etc.
- You have extensive experience in Coaching and workshop facilitation.
- You’re passionate about impact-driven work and are excited by the opportunity to work with clients who are striving to integrate profit & purpose.
- You thrive in complexity, are a natural problem-solver, and dig deep for patterns and paths, even amidst a great deal of ambiguity, with the flexibility to analyse and adapt to situations.
- You aren’t afraid to ask questions when you need clarity and are willing to challenge both your own and your team’s perspectives.
- You can navigate complex research projects, absorb and synthesise large amounts of information, confidently draw conclusions from your research, and put them into clear recommendations and points for the team.
- You are detail-oriented, and well-organized and enjoy bringing structure to projects through work-planning and prioritisation to drive successful delivery outcomes.
- Possess effective leadership skills to drive execution in complex environments. You can work independently but are personable, a good listener and connect easily with others, making you a great team player.
- You enjoy the variety and sometimes ambiguous contexts of contributing to a wide range of client projects unfolding simultaneously.
- Strong/effective verbal and written communication to be able to interact at different levels of the organisation, from team members to senior leaders.
We’d like to see:
- Bachelor’s in Science, Engineering or Business, MBA, MS preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of the Mining & Metals industry in Australia and New Zealand (e.g. overall value chain, key trends, major players in the market, key risks, challenges, and value drivers).
- Demonstrated experience over-seeing large, diverse transformation programs in a management consulting firm working with Mining & Metals clients.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and team-working attitude to be able to work in with fast-paced, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English.
