About the role:

As a Network and Communications Engineer, you'll actively contribute to the development of a communications technology roadmap that includes simplification, the replacement of aged equipment, and facilitating IT/OT convergence.

You will contribute to the creation of engineering designs, manage scope of works, asset and cable schedules, and collaborate in the review and approval of design packs. With your strong understanding of IP networking technologies—routers, switches, and firewalls—you'll ensure that the network infrastructure is reliable and aligned with the business strategy.

Key responsibilities:

Drive alignment of the communications network with business and asset strategies

Facilitate swift and effective responses to communications network issues and outages, applying appropriate prioritisation to expedite remediation and minimise business disruption.

Oversee the seamless installation and commissioning of new site infrastructure, ensuring adherence to design specifications and high-quality standards.

Ensure all changes to the communications system fully comply with Origin's Engineering Assurances Procedures, Management of Change (MOC) policy, and Management of Work (MoW) practices

Collaborate proactively with communications system vendors and subcontractors to drive continuous improvement in equipment performance, optimising vendor and contractor service management.

Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with on-site operators, I&E technicians, Brisbane engineering teams, customers, peers, and vendors, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork across all stakeholders.

What will you bring?

- A minimum of 5+ years' experience working in operational technology environments.

Relevant experience working with Optical and Microwave transmission networks, Ethernet/IP networks (Cisco/Avara), WiMAX, LTE Networks, Voice Radio networks (DAMM Tetra, Sepura, Tait) and associated repeater site infrastructure.

Relevant experience with technical site installation and commissioning activities.

You will be required to support installation/commissioning works from the field.

Ensure refined execution of engineering work requirements, procedures, checklists, designs, and recommendations, upholding high standards of quality and compliance.

Oversee peer reviews of communications engineering work, including the approval of MOC and Completion forms (C1, etc.).

Facilitate travel and accommodation planning (excluding approvals) and manage the procurement of tools and parts for work execution, in full alignment with Origin's procurement policies, standards, and DOAs.
