Java Developer Back-end

Responsibilities

- Develop and document high-quality software code using Java technologies such as Spring Boot, Spring Rest, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Spring Cloud, and Spring Integration to meet organisational standards and end-user requirements.
- Integrate new solutions with existing systems by leveraging Oracle Stored Procedures and other established business functionalities to ensure seamless operation across platforms.
- Collaborate closely with business analysts, fellow developers, and subject matter experts within an agile framework to deliver iterative improvements aligned with project goals.
- Implement automated unit and functional tests to maintain code quality and support continuous integration practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Contribute actively to the creation of comprehensive documentation and knowledge transfer materials that support ongoing system maintenance and future enhancements.
- Engage in stakeholder interactions with clear oral communication skills, fostering positive relationships that facilitate requirement gathering and solution validation.
- Participate in regular agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives to ensure transparency and shared understanding within the team.
- Support the transition of developed solutions into production environments by assisting operational teams during go-live activities or when addressing post-deployment issues.
- Manage multiple concurrent work streams effectively by prioritising tasks according to project timelines and operational needs.
- Adapt quickly to evolving project requirements or changes in scope while maintaining focus on delivering reliable outcomes.

Experience & Qualifications

- Proven experience developing enterprise-level applications using Java technologies including Spring Boot, Spring Rest, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Spring Cloud, and Spring Integration within complex environments.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate new software solutions with existing systems utilising Oracle Stored Procedures or similar database technologies for optimal performance.
- Hands-on experience implementing automated unit tests and functional tests as part of continuous integration pipelines in agile development settings.
- Excellent oral communication skills complemented by strong interpersonal abilities for effective stakeholder interaction and teamwork.
- Track record of producing detailed technical documentation and facilitating knowledge transfer sessions for support teams or end users.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines or shifting project scopes.
- Experience working within an agile methodology (such as Scrum or Kanban), participating fully in ceremonies like sprint planning or retrospectives.
- Self-motivated approach allowing you to contribute independently when required yet remain highly collaborative within multidisciplinary teams.
- Desirable: Familiarity with Message Driven API architectures, GraphQL implementations, SOAP Web Services integration projects or Oracle 18c databases enhances suitability for this role.
- Desirable: Prior exposure to government or regulatory environments as well as experience integrating third-party APIs (e.g., ABR/ASIC) is advantageous.
