Overview
Support Tasmania's health services in this permanent full time Senior Dental Therapist role. Provide essential clinical services and leadership in accordance with organisational policies and professional codes of conduct, including direct leadership and support for the Dental/Oral Health Therapist team.
The Team
Oral Health Services Tasmania (OHST) is the public oral health care provider in Tasmania and operates as a statewide service. All Tasmanian children aged 0 to 17 years and all Tasmanian adults holding a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card are eligible for care from OHST. OHST is a team of approximately 300 people across 33 clinics, with adult services primarily in six major dental centres and three Special Care Dental Units, and child/adolescent services from 23 community clinics.

The Role
The Senior Dental/Oral Health Therapist is responsible for assisting the Area Manager with the organisation, coordination and management of services delivered by Dental/Oral Health Therapists. Provide clinical services and clinical leadership in accordance with organisational policies and professional codes of conduct, including direct leadership and support for the Dental/Oral Health Therapist team. Provide advice to the Area Manager, Clinical Director, and other staff on complex aspects of dental and oral health therapy practices. Participate as a member of the area management team and relevant statewide committees to contribute to service delivery directions, policies, guidelines, and priorities for OHST, including children’s dental services and workforce initiatives.
You will need
- Demonstrated extensive clinical practice experience as a senior professional practitioner with a broad understanding of contemporary oral health service delivery.
- Ability to exercise a high level of independent professional judgement in resolving complex or novel problems and provide authoritative technical or policy advice.
- Understanding of human and financial management and the ability to contribute to strategies that monitor service delivery effectiveness and efficiency.

Details of appointment
Permanent full-time day worker position, 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant. The selection process may be used to fill other vacancies for up to twelve months from the date of publication.
Salary: $123,717 to $134,336 per annum plus 12% employer superannuation contribution. Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.
Salary Packaging: Salary packaging options including living expenses up to $9,010 and meal entertainment up to $2,650 per FBT year, subject to eligibility.
- Access to salaries beyond $130,900 may require qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
Additional allowances may be available, including Professional Development Allowance up to $1,000 per annum.

Eligibility
Successful applicants must meet essential criteria: tertiary qualification approved by the Dental Board of Australia, Registration with the Dental Board of Australia, and Current Working with Children Registration. Desirable: current Driver’s Licence.
