This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2025
Canning College has been preparing senior secondary students to achieve entry into Australia's leading universities since 1982. As a specialist international education institution, it has established a strong reputation for providing local and overseas students with the personal and academic development and pathways required to succeed in tertiary studies. College staff are experienced in providing care, support and academic guidance to all students to help them prepare better for the rigours of tertiary studies.
The Canning College Science Department delivers university pathway programs in the Physical and Biological Sciences. The Science Department houses well-resourced laboratories for teaching and learning, with preparation areas located in the centre of the facility.
As the Laboratory Technician, you will ideally provide support to teaching staff in routine chemical and equipment preparation and construction of apparatus for science classes whilst ordering supplies, equipment and managing stock levels. The successful applicant performs basic repairs and maintenance on the equipment whilst constructing teaching aids as required. Additionally, you are responsible for the labelling, maintenance and safe storage of laboratory chemicals, equipment and resources and the disposal of chemical, physical, and biological laboratory materials.
The successful applicantwill ideally have the knowledge, skills and experience required to perform the Laboratory Technician role to a high standard. The ability to display initiative, good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as exceptional organisational skills and knowledge of Work Health and Safety practises and policies are desirable. You will also ideally demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.

- Demonstrated good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated well developed keyboarding and computer skills including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
