Workforce Extensions | Scoresby's client require a Brake Press Operator and a Factory Hand for their manufacturing site in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs.

Position Description:

Brake Press Operator

Position Purpose:

The Brake Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of brake press machinery to bend, shape, and form metal components to precise specifications. This role plays a vital part in the production process, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet client and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Set up and operate CNC and/or manual brake press machines.

- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine job specifications.

- Perform accurate measurements and quality checks using callipers, gauges, and other precision tools.

- Adjust machine settings and tooling to accommodate different materials and job requirements.

- Ensure components are formed to correct dimensions and tolerances.

- Identify and troubleshoot minor machine faults or defects.

- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with WHS regulations.

- Record production data and complete relevant job documentation.

- Work collaboratively with other team members in the fabrication and assembly departments.

- Perform routine maintenance and report any major issues to maintenance personnel.

Skills and Experience:

- Proven experience operating a brake press machine (manual or CNC).

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

- Good understanding of workplace health and safety practices.

- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

- Experience working in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.

- Forklift licence (LF) or overhead crane licence.

- Familiarity with other workshop machinery (e.g. guillotine, punch press, laser cutter).

- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks.

- Able to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

- Commitment to continuous improvement and workplace safety.

Working Conditions:

- Workshop or factory-based environment.

- Use of PPE is mandatory (e.g. safety boots, gloves, eye protection).
