The Opportunity – Senior Legal Counsel (Contract until 30th of June 2026):

As a Senior Legal Counsel – Technology within Medibank, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our material service providers (MSP) project to uplift existing contracts with MSPs. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives and ensure compliance with APRA Prudential Standard CPS230, while also advising on a broad range of technology, digital, data, and commercial matters. This is a great opportunity to be part of a collaborative, fast-paced environment where your legal expertise drives innovation and compliance.

How you will create value:

You will provide expert legal advice and support across key strategic and compliance initiatives. Through the utilisation of your legal expertise, you will add value to Medibank by:

- Delivering high-quality, commercially pragmatic legal services to the MSP uplift project.
- Advise on technology contracts, SaaS, cloud, licensing, cybersecurity, and data governance.
- Support legal risk management in digital transformation, procurement, and innovation projects.
- Collaborate on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial and technology agreements.
- Lead negotiations with external parties to balance legal risk and business goals.
- Partner with internal teams including Technology, Procurement, Privacy, and Risk.
- Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, enabling business outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Contribute to the development of legal templates, playbooks, and knowledge resources.

About you:

You are a seasoned legal professional with deep expertise in technology and commercial law, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. You have proven experience in complex environments and bring strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.

Other key experience includes:

- Admitted to practice in Australia with a current practising certificate.
- 10+ years post-qualification experience in technology, commercial, or corporate law.
- In-house experience in a regulated industry is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex technology and commercial contracts.
- Familiarity with privacy, cybersecurity, and data governance frameworks.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
