Job Category: Agriculture, Nature & Animal

Who we are:

The Australian Agricultural Company (AACo) is Australia’s largest integrated cattle and beef producer, specialising in grass-fed, grain-fed, and Wagyu beef production. Established back in 1824, we’ve been doing this a while – in fact, we’re Australia’s oldest continuously operating company. We’re dedicated to acknowledging our history even as we look to sustainably feed the future – and we’d love you to join us.

Job Description

About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a passionate Animal Health and Welfare Coordinator to play a key role in delivering our animal health and welfare agenda. In this dynamic role, you’ll manage policies, coordinate training and reporting, and lead incident response planning whilst ensuring accurate information and timely actions across stations and feedlots. This role is the operational engine that supports fast, consistent decision-making and drives continuous improvement in animal welfare standards.

Your key responsibilities will include the following:

- Maintain Animal Health and welfare (AHW) policies, biosecurity plans, and SharePoint pages with version control and scheduled reviews.
- Ensure all documents align with Australian Animal Welfare Standards and internal policy principles.
- Coordinate AHW Committee meetings, including agendas, pre-reads, minutes, action tracking, and dashboards.
- Produce and distribute regular AHW communications, including monthly Safety Toolbox Talk content.
- Maintain operational reports such as weekly/fortnightly animal health snapshots with quality assurance.
- Organise biosecurity and post-mortem training across properties, including scheduling and attendance tracking.
- Monitor training completion and refresh cycles, and follow up on improvement actions.
- Collaborate with station managers and veterinary consultants to maintain standardised animal health protocols.
- Log and triage reportable animal health incidents, coordinate reviews, and develop corrective action plans.
- Document root-cause analysis and ensure lessons learned are shared through Toolbox Talks and briefings.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you will bring to this role:

- 3+ years’ experience in coordination or operations within agriculture, livestock, or a related field.
- Proven ability to manage recurring processes such as meeting packs, minutes, dashboards, and action tracking across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong written communication skills and experience managing documents like SOPs, policies, and pre-reads.
- Confident using Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Planner, with a focus on data quality and template management.
- Exposure to animal health and welfare standards and biosecurity practices in cattle operations (desirable).
- Experience supporting applied R&D or field trials in operational environments (desirable).
- Thrive on continuous learning and growth opportunities
- Love working in a newly refurbished office in a central location.
- Competitive salary and flexible working arrangements.
