Townsville, Australia Entaingroup Full time

We’re on the lookout for a passionate and highly capable Software Engineer to join our high-performing, fast-paced Technology team. In this role, you’ll help shape the digital experience for thousands of users — designing, building, and delivering high-quality software that performs at scale and pushes the boundaries of what’s possible.

With a strong technical skillset and a hunger for continuous improvement, you’ll play a key role in building products that matter. From development and deployment through to collaboration and mentoring, you’ll work with a talented group of technologists to help Entain remain a leader in sports, racing, and entertainment.

Where And How You Can Work...

We have offices across Australia and New Zealand, and this role is open to remote candidates.

We offer a hybrid working model (Brisbane HQ, Melbourne, Sydney, Wellington or Auckland)— balancing the benefits of in-person collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. We’re committed to helping you do your best work in a way that fits your lifestyle.

Your Day-to-Day...

- Contribute to the end-to-end SDLC, from early analysis and architecture through to testing and deployment.
- Write well-designed, testable, and scalable code that adheres to established standards and best practices.
- Actively participate in team discussions, helping guide the direction of projects through thoughtful input and technical expertise.
- Evaluate and improve system scalability and performance, identifying bottlenecks and developing proactive solutions.
- Assist in quality assurance processes by collaborating with QAs to ensure high standards of software delivery.
- Own and maintain specific modules and codebases, including documentation and improvement initiatives.
- Help evolve internal build tools, CI/CD pipelines, and automation capabilities.
- Communicate and collaborate with external teams and stakeholders across the business.
- Work closely with team leads and senior engineers to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and processes.

What You'll Bring...

- Proven experience in software engineering within a modern delivery environment, ideally aligned with our tech stack.
- Strong understanding of web, mobile, or backend technologies and standards.
- Experience in Agile delivery teams, comfortable working in fast-paced sprints and collaborative team settings.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling (e.g. TeamCity, Octopus, PowerShell).
- Working knowledge of databases (SQL, NoSQL) and Jira or similar platforms.
- Great problem-solving skills and the ability to assess technical risk and mitigate proactively.
- Knowledge or experience with automated testing frameworks and methodologies.
- An appetite to grow, share knowledge, and work as part of a united, inclusive team.

Who You’ll Collaborate With...

Internal: Delivery Teams, Digital Teams, Product Teams, and other Business Units

External: Third-party vendors and technology partners

Groups: Technology Governance forums (CAB, Technical Design Forum), Business Prioritisation and Product Delivery Teams

Entain Lifestyle...

- Embrace your need for a work-life balance.
- Celebrate the joy of starting a family with 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
- Indulge in a range of wellness benefits through our wellness calendar, including heavily subsidized gym memberships and other paid-for services.
- Enjoy the convenience of a free onsite barista and a fully stocked fridge and pantry, ensuring breakfast and lunch are taken care of.
- Company-wide events designed to honour and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our exceptional team.
