Defence Industry Pathway Program Traineeship

PEER, in collaboration with the Commonwealth and Australian Governments, are seeking applications for the intake 4, of the Defence Industry Pathways Program (DIPP).

Launch your career in the defence industry and gain Certificate III in Defence Industry Pathways.

Commencing on Tuesday the 27th January 2026, this 12 month traineeship offers a unique blend of classroom learning at TAFE Regency Park and hands‑on training through three 12‑week placements with leading defence industry employers.

Open your mind to gain practical experience across engineering, manufacturing, administration, IT, logistics, procurement, supply chain, and CAD – preparing you for a range of dynamic roles in both blue and white‑collar environments.

About the Traineeship

- Ideal for anyone considering a career in construction and maintenance of nuclear powered submarines, naval fleet and/or the defence industry.

- Enjoy a diverse curriculum which includes an introduction to: Manufacturing and engineering, administration, IT, Warehousing and logistics, procurement and supply chain, and technical & computer aided drawing (CAD).

- 12‑month commitment with high potential for ongoing employment within defence industry upon successful completion.

- Gain work experience at a variety of defence industry companies located at various SA locations.

- Receive ongoing support and guidance from dedicated mentors, coaches, and educators throughout the traineeship.

- Be paid for the duration of the traineeship (includes annual leave, personal leave and superannuation).

About you

- You are punctual and can travel to work in your own vehicle or have other reliable transport. A drivers licence is required (P’s at a minimum, or L’s with P’s within 3 months).

- Computer literate with a sound level of numeracy and literacy.

- You have a genuine interest in the defence industry.

- You thrive in a team setting, understand the importance of communication and trust, and take pride in contributing to a collective mission within the Defence industry.

- Reliable, resilient, and motivated to put in the hard work needed to build a strong and rewarding career.

Candidates must satisfactorily pass a National Police Clearance, Baseline Security Check (must be an Australian citizen) and medical checks including drug & alcohol screening before a formal offer of employment is provided. Eligibility criteria apply in relation to work rights.

As a trainee you will be paid in accordance with the National Training Wage.

The Defence Industry Pathway Program has quickly built a reputation of excellence. Over 100 trainees have graduated over the past five years in Western Australia, many of them having now moved onto fulfilling full time roles within the defence industry.
