Albany, Australia Western Power Full time

Senior Community Engagement Specialist – Maximum Term – Perth CBD office

Are you passionate about working on major projects driving the energy transition and building strong, trusted relationships along the way? We’re seeking a Senior Community Engagement Specialist to join our team for a 12-month maximum term opportunity — where you’ll play a key role in connecting stakeholders with our Clean Energy Link projects.

In this pivotal role, you’ll lead strategic engagement that will be the driving force behind building trust, strengthening partnerships, and supporting the successful delivery of projects critical to Western Power’s vision for a reliable, affordable, and renewable energy future.

If you’re a confident communicator who thrives on connecting people, managing complexity, and creating lasting positive impact,

Your Role in Action

- Manage and align stakeholder relationships, particularly with local government and project partners, to support Western Power’s strategic objectives.

- Strengthen community relationships and reputation, while minimising the impact of infrastructure projects.

- Provide strategic communications and engagement expertise to support internal and external initiatives.

- Work closely with other disciplines in the Social Performance & Approvals Function, and across the business.

- Facilitate proactive face-to-face engagement and manage sensitive or contentious issues effectively.

- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations related to community engagement.

- Represent Western Power in crisis situations and corporate or community events as required.

- Champion community engagement internally and report on project communication activities, outcomes, and lessons learned.

What Makes You a Great Fit

- Demonstrated experience in strategic stakeholder relationship management for complex infrastructure projects or organisations with a proven ability to build strong partnerships, communicate complex information effectively, and proactively manage community and project‑related interactions.

- Proven experience and knowledge in communication, community engagement, stakeholder management or a related field.

- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Social Planning and Sciences, Marketing, or related discipline.

- Demonstrated and high‑level subject matter expertise and experience in incorporating best practice communication / community and stakeholder engagement practices.

- Understanding of International Association of Public Participation spectrum.

- Ability to prioritise work and critically assess own performance.

- Excellent listening skills with a strong ability to demonstrate understanding and empathy.

By joining Western Power, you will contribute to powering a cleaner energy future. We are dedicated to fostering career development and promoting a healthy work‑life balance, empowering you to drive innovation as we develop a network that will serve the Western Australian community for generations. You will also benefit from a range of perks and opportunities, including:

- Over 50% of our employment opportunities are driven by career progression.

- Flexible work arrangements to support working hours and working from home arrangements.

- Access to salary packaging, social club activities, and discounted health insurance and gym membership.

- An award‑winning employee recognition and benefits programme.

- An innovative team culture that’s enabling the transition to renewable energy and decarbonisation.

- In addition to standard leave, enjoy three wellness leave days each year.
