What you’d be doing in this role

As a Senior 3D Designer in the 3D & Mockups group, you’ll play a key role in pushing the boundaries of how 3D can be created, prepared for WebGL, automated, and scaled at Canva. This is a senior-level role, where the focus is on expert craft, innovation, and problem-solving.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, designers, product and program managers, Content lead, and fellow 3D designers to deliver pipelines, assets, and processes that elevate Canva’s 3D capabilities. You’ll thrive in uncharted territory—designing workflows that don’t exist yet, experimenting with AI and automation, and finding ways to make complex 3D design accessible to everyone.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

- Innovate and Explore: Pioneer new workflows, pipelines, and processes for 3D design, including AI-driven solutions that don’t yet exist in the industry.

- Craft at a Senior Level: Create complex, high-quality 3D assets - including models, textures, materials, and renders - that raise the bar for Canva’s 3D content.

- Automate Workflows: Develop and apply scripts, plugins, and automation pipelines that make 3D production faster, smarter, and more scalable.

- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with engineers, product managers, designers, and fellow 3D designers to deliver integrated 3D solutions.

- Set Quality Standards: Apply a meticulous eye for detail to ensure 3D assets meet Canva’s benchmarks for realism, scalability, and usability.

- Experiment with AI: Explore how AI and emerging technologies can transform the way 3D assets are created, optimized, and deployed.

What we're looking for

- You’re a Blender Expert: You have proven years of expertise in Blender, with deep knowledge of 3D modeling, texturing, shading, and rendering, and a strong portfolio showcasing both technical depth and creativity.

- You Have Game-Ready (WebGL-Ready) Asset Experience: You understand how to prepare and optimize 3D assets for real-time use, ensuring they are lightweight, performant, and visually consistent across platforms.

- You’re Excited by Automation: You enjoy building scripts, tools, and pipelines that make complex workflows more efficient and scalable.

- You’re AI-Curious: You’re excited by the potential of AI and emerging technologies to change the way 3D is created.

- You’re Collaborative: You excel at working in cross-functional teams, partnering with engineers, designers, product managers, and other 3D specialists.

- You’re Detail-Oriented: You care deeply about precision, realism, and consistency, ensuring everything you produce meets a high standard.

- You’re a Problem-Solver: You love tackling complex challenges and building solutions where none existed before.

- You’re Adaptable and Curious: You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity, experimenting with new processes, and working on a variety of 3D challenges.
