As our Homewares category continues to grow, we’re seeking a passionate and experienced designer to lead the end-to-end design process—from concept development through to final execution—across a diverse and exciting product range.
In this role, you’ll design across key Dining categories, including dinnerware, napery, drinkware, and food or lunch storage.
Your creative vision will help shape desirable, trend-forward products that resonate with our customers and elevate their everyday experiences. Experience designing across these categories is highly advantageous.

What you’ll be doing
As our new Designer Homewares (Dinnerware, Hard & Soft Goods) you will be instrumental in identifying, interpreting and implementing global homeware trends to grow sales whilst continuing to bring meaningful moments into our customers lives.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Designer specializing in hardgoods and homewares to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of aesthetics, and a proven track record in designing innovative and market-leading products.
Key responsibilities include:
- Product Development to create innovative and marketable designs that align with the company's brand image and target market.
- Trend forecasting & identifying new product opportunities in homewares market.
- Product design & Development in hard and soft homeware products-such as dinnerware, napery, lunch and drink related products.
- Driving ongoing improvement across product innovation, process excellence, and workplace culture.
- Building relationship & influence key stakeholders
- Experience in design and development of hardgoods and homewares from concept to final product.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including Product Development, Buying, and Manufacturing — to ensure designs are feasible and aligned with the brand vision.
- Conduct market research and trend analysis to inform design decisions and stay ahead of industry trends.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery to critical path
- Analyse and translate global home trends into commercially relevant designs that reflect Kmart’s unique style. Maintain a strong aesthetic eye and stay ahead of emerging homeware trends to drive value through design.
- Develops and inspires a high-performance team and culture across the team and with their key stakeholders
To be successful in this role you’ll have
- Proven experience in a Hard and soft goods Design role- 8+ years
- Strong ability to forecast and implement on-trend product ranges that have a commercial and broad appeal
- Good understanding of commercial range architecture
- Excellent ability to influence and collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders
- High proficiency in Illustrator, Solid Works or 3D capabilities programmes and Photoshop
- Ability to create accurate technical specification drawings
- Solid knowledge of factory capabilities and limitations for mass production
- Experience in product development in conjunction with factories
- Excellent time management and organisational skills and exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Confident & articulate presentation skills with strong attention to detail
