Position Description

Our Story

The a2 Milk Company, driven by science and a pioneering spirit, disrupted the dairy and infant milk formula industry. Our vision is to create an A1-free world where dairy nourishes all people and our planet.
We seek to achieve this through the naturally occurring a2 Milk difference and by promoting a more sustainable approach to dairy.

About the Role

At The a2 Milk Company, we’re passionate about doing dairy differently. With a pioneering spirit and commitment to quality, we’ve built a trusted global brand that continues to innovate and grow. Our culture is grounded in collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement — we have an exciting new role for an innovative leader who share these values.

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager to join our team at Smeaton Grange. This leadership role is central to ensuring that our site runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently, while driving forward capital expenditure projects and process improvement initiatives.

Your day will involve:

- Leading the maintenance function, managing an engaged team and ensuring high standards of safety, reliability, and performance.
- Oversee day-to-day maintenance planning and execution, including lock out/tag out systems, permit-to-work processes, and compliance with safety frameworks.
- Partner with production and operations teams to deliver continuous improvement projects across plant performance, equipment upgrades, and process efficiency.
- Drive small-scale capital projects as well as longer-term factory improvement programs.
- Support a culture of lean manufacturing, problem solving, and daily operational excellence through site meetings and cross-functional collaboration.
- Work closely with Quality, Safety, People & Culture, and Project teams to deliver end-to-end site strategies.
- Contribute to the long-term site vision, including upgrades, new equipment planning, and major change initiatives.

About You

We’re looking for a practical, people-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and can balance the day-to-day with strategic thinking.

- Proven experience in maintenance management within the dairy, beverage, or food manufacturing industry.
- Strong safety mindset, with experience leading LOTO systems, permit-to-work processes, and contractor management.
- Hands-on project management experience across small capital projects and process improvements.
- A collaborative, approachable leadership style, with the ability to engage, coach, and develop contractors and stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with cross-functional teams, from operations to finance.

If you are motivated by leading people, improving processes, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and performance, we’d love to hear from you. Join us in doing dairy differently at The a2 Milk Company
