Title: Bushland Response Officer, Temporary - Full-time Role, 38 hours per week
Salary Range: $80029.58 to $93006.52 per annum + super (subject to skills and experience)

Environment & Resilience:
The Environment & Resilience Business Unit manages complex environmental and engineering programs and projects to achieve quality outcomes for the residents and the environment of the Northern Beaches. The Unit delivers the strategic and operational management of:
- Bushland and biodiversity protection and restoration including threatened species and pest species management and the control of bush fire risk
- Catchment, waterway and coastal management including ecological, risk and restoration programs
- Strategic environmental systems & programs, climate change adaptation/resilience and corporate sustainability
- Environmental education, volunteering and engagement
- Development engineering including subdivision works, development approvals, co-ordination of s94 works delivery and certification of development works
- Stormwater asset maintenance, renewals and design and construction of new assets
- Floodplain risk planning and management

Our opportunity:
The key focus areas of this role include:
Reporting to the Bushland Response Leader the role of the Bushland Response Officer is to provide a high-level technical support in managing bushland and biodiversity matters across the Northern Beaches Council LGA. The position will action customer requests, provide supervision of Council’s internal bush regeneration team, and assist with other field work as required to undertake works/activities in strategic and operational bushland management. The role also includes the supervision of contractors.
Key responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate and supervise frontline bushland operations, including response to customer requests, bush regeneration and restoration activities, and the handling and application of herbicides as required.
- Co-ordinate resources to support:
- bush fire hazard reduction activities including manual removal of fuel and preparation of sites for hazard reduction burns.
- the actioning of customer requests related to the Business Unit as required.
- invasive species control programs as required.
- bush regeneration contract management as required.
- activities undertaken by other teams with the Business Unit as required.
- Liaise with multiple teams across council to resolve complex matters in relation to maintenance of bushland areas under the control of the team.
