Overview

SEAWAY is seeking a full-time Rail & Road Manager to oversee all rail and road transport operations based at our Warrnambool site. This is a hands-on role that will also be responsible for managing all ancillary services to freight movements, identifying cost & efficiency improvement, all while providing our high standard of SEAWAY customer service that our clients know and love.

You will be overseeing a team of Reach Stacker Drivers, Rail Operations, Drivers & Planners.

We are seeking candidates with strong experience in the transport & rail industry who are approachable leaders, lateral thinkers and safety champions.

This is an ongoing position with standard hours 7am – 4pm Monday to Friday.

Your key responsibilities

- Provide day to day leadership, management and guidance to the rail and road division

- Maintain the order flow of all products and manage the procurement, tracking and delivery of goods

- Analyse logistical problems and produce new solutions

- Allocate and manage staff resources including but not limited to staff management, development and training

- Plan and forecast workloads in line with seasonal movements and resourcing requirements

- New Business Development & Account Management

- Work closely with other managers to manage daily freight organisation

- Ensure compliance requirements are met across all stages of operations

- Assist with quotations

- Regular liaison and strong relationship management with a variety of stakeholders including but not limited to clients, shipping agents and internal departments

- Ensure OH&S procedures are strictly followed at all times by staff and visitors

- Regular reporting and administration

About You – What are we looking for?

- At least 5 years' experience in the Transport & Rail Industry

- At least 3 years’ experience in a leadership role and managing staff

- Demonstrated experience in forecasting, planning and problem solving

- Above average computer literacy

- Current Driver’s Licence

- Proactive in nature and able to self-motivate

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Safety Focused

- Reliable & Punctual

- Superior organisational skills and attention to detail

- Professionalism and confidentiality

- Current Forklift Licence (or willingness to obtain/renew)

- Current MC Licence (or willingness to obtain/renew)

- Current AQIS Certification (or willingness to obtain/renew)
