About the opportunity

The Menzies Institute for Medical Research is looking for an organised and people‑centric Senior Project Officer to join their Cardiovascular Health Project.

The Menzies Institute for Medical Research (Menzies), at the University of Tasmania, is one of Australia’s leading health and medical research institutes. Menzies exists to improve human health and wellbeing by performing excellent basic, clinical and population health research that focuses on the major diseases affecting the Tasmanian community.

Taking a disease prevention approach, our research is aimed at improving patient care and clinical outcomes for the community by translating knowledge and clinical actions.

This role is critical to supporting the next phase of the Northwest Hypertension project. This important initiative focuses on enhancing blood pressure measurements across general practice, pharmacy and community settings with the aim of improving health outcomes for people in Northwest Tasmania and across the state.

As our new Senior Project Officer, you will be a key member of the team, visiting pilot sites across the state to evaluate progress, manage critical data, and collaborate closely with researchers and stakeholders. You'll take the lead on coordinating project administration, participant recruitment, and stakeholder engagement, while ensuring all documentation aligns with best‑practice project management. Please note that along with office‑based computer work, this role will involve traveling to our pilot sites based in all regions of the state on a regular basis, so a driver’s license is essential.

What you’ll do:

- Visit pilot sites and work with the research team to coordinate and undertake evaluation of research progress, including the management of collected data.

- Coordinate research‑related administration, participant recruitment, and stakeholder management.

- Develop, implement, and maintain documentation surrounding key research projects in line with project management principles.

- Support with the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data from a variety of sources and contribute to manuscript preparation.

What we’re looking for:

- A degree level qualification in health or a relevant area, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training.

- Demonstrated experience and initiative in the coordination of research projects.

- Experience with a range of computer software packages, including word processing, spreadsheet and database software, and the ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data.

- Excellent writing skills, with demonstrated experience preparing scientific manuscripts.

- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to be self‑directed, manage competing priorities and to use initiative, innovation and problem‑solving skills.

- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to convey information clearly and foster productive relationships with key partners and stakeholders.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116,872 comprising base salary within the range of $92,120 to $99,891 (pro rata) plus 17% superannuation.
