The Opportunity

In your role as Team Leader – HV Design you will be responsible for managing a team of HV Designers and Drafters to deliver high-quality designs and develop technical standards that align with project objectives and stakeholder requirements.

This role plays a key part in the design and development of high voltage primary systems, including substation general arrangements, bay and busbar layouts, lightning protection systems, and other critical components.

What You’ll Do

- Perform, review, and approve high voltage designs in compliance with Australian/IEC standards and Transgrid technical requirements.
- Lead and manage specialist studies in areas such as earthing, noise, electric and magnetic fields, and power coordination.
- Manage investigations and performance assessments of the high voltage network.
- Provide strategic input and technical guidance on complex multidisciplinary issues involving internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage the technical competency of the team, including implementation of Designer Technical Competency Assessments and development plans.
- Oversee feasibility studies to determine HV design requirements for proposed projects.
- Contribute to Transgrid strategic initiatives including the introductions of innovative design solutions

About You

- Tertiary qualification at degree level in Electrical Engineering
- Extensive knowledge and experience in high voltage substation design, including practical experience in both design and construction.
- Sound understanding of Safety in Design, National Electricity Rules (NER), and relevant Australian standards.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing engineering teams and stakeholders to deliver complex projects.
