A little about the role

As a casual Youth/Support Worker, help us make a positive and lasting difference to children and young people who are in out of home care, supporting them through our Key Assets foster/kinship program. This position is based at our Ipswich office, servicing the Ipswich area.

Some of your key responsibilities:

- Undertaking structured supervision and observation of contact with family members, including participating in activities both within and outside the agency premises.
- Supporting children and young people who may have suffered trauma and subsequently present complex needs and challenging behaviours.
- Keep comprehensive records of work undertaken and provide these as required in a prompt timeframe, in line with Key Assets Policies and Procedures.

The base hourly rate for this position is $46.69 - $50.06/hour, with mileage reimbursed to the Award rate. The position title for this role will internally be recognised as 'Support Worker'.

About you

- Must possess a full, current QLD driver’s licence.
- Certificate III in Children’s Service, or any equivalent qualifications or training in youth or social care is advantageous.
- Prior experience working directly with children/young people, including teenagers, in the care system or other relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience working with children with trauma-related challenging behaviours.
- A comprehensive working knowledge of relevant legislation pertaining to children’s services.
- Ability to communicate simply and effectively, both verbal and written, with a diverse staff group at all levels, recognising potential language barriers and cultural differences.
- Must possess, or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
