Perth, Australia VenuesWest Full time

Branch: Canning Vale College

Division: Independent Public School - South Metropolitan Education Region

Salary: Level 3, $137,428 - $150,385 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2023)

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026.

Canning Vale College (CVC) is an Independent Public School with approximately 1,350 students from Years 7 to 12 and approximately 180 staff. Our moral purpose is ‘Creating Futures’. The team at CVC aims to create a future for every child in the CVC community by fostering strong partnerships between parents, students, community organisations and staff, creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment. Using new technology and hands‑on learning, students explore ideas and find their individual paths to current and future success. We believe this is achieved when each child leaves with the knowledge, skills, and values to transition to university, further training, or employment, ready to engage, progress, develop, and achieve, and ultimately contribute to making a positive difference in the world. By working with us you become part of a team dedicated to continual improvement and achievement for both our students and staff community.

The Role

CVC is seeking a dynamic individual with passion and commitment to the development of differentiated learning across all learning areas. The successful applicant will ideally have effective leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills. In addition, applicants should have high‑quality presentation skills and a proven track record of delivering effective professional learning for teachers and allied professionals.

The successful applicant will have experience in contemporary, evidence‑based standards of teaching that support secondary‑aged students with learning needs, both diagnosed and prescribed. The applicant will lead a team of educators, communicate effectively and support the school to develop a school‑wide culture that embodies inclusive practice. They will also support staff to plan, deliver, monitor, assess and evaluate differentiated teaching and learning programmes that meet the educational needs of students requiring intervention due to learning difficulty, disability or low literacy and numeracy progress. They will consult, support, and collaborate with staff, parents and external agencies to build staff capacity and enable the school to become more inclusive of students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

- Responsibility for disability resourcing applications and financial management of the disability resourcing system budget.

- Case management of students with diagnosed conditions including diagnosis documentation, family liaison, individual education plans and teacher communication.

- Supporting staff to plan, deliver, monitor, assess and evaluate inclusive, differentiated teaching and learning programmes that meet the educational needs of students who require intervention within a mainstream setting.

- Line‑manage and ensure Education Assistants maintain their capacity to support teachers appropriately based on student and classroom need using contemporary approaches and ongoing learning.

- Ensure high‑quality resourcing is maintained for support of students and that resourcing is continually monitored and evaluated.

- Achieve higher levels of literacy and numeracy progress through a plan for literacy and numeracy intervention of students in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA). The school currently has a successful MacqLit programme, and the successful applicant will grow and maintain this in consultation with literacy specialist staff.
