City of Melbourne, Australia CitiPower and Powercor Australia Full time

At CitiPower and Powercor, we’re proud to deliver electricity to over a million Victorian customers every day through our network of poles and wires. But more than that, we’re here to power communities, support local businesses and keep critical services running smoothly. We’re essential to them all – and none of this happens without our people.

About our Traineeship Program:

Applications are now open for our Asset Inspection Trainee intake, commencing in early February 2026.

Asset Inspectors are responsible for inspecting and assessing power poles and associated overhead and underground assets across our network, with the key purpose being to identify and categorise faults, defects, and condition of the poles.

The role requires someone who is comfortable working autonomously and is willing to travel frequently within their designated area. Therefore, in order to be eligible for the traineeship all candidates are required to have a valid driver’s licence.

This Traineeship will run over a 12-month period, combining formal TAFE study and paid field work to enable you to gain the skills, competencies and experience required for an industry recognised certification (Certificate II in Electricity Supply Industry – Asset Inspection and Testing).

The positions for our Traineeship Program can be based at our depots located in Melbourne or Geelong. Please select your preference during your application.

To be eligible, our Apprenticeship program pre-requisites are Credit grade in Year 10 Maths and English, or any higher levels of education.

We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to consider applying, whether you are leaving school, TAFE, have experience working in a different industry, or if perhaps you have decided university is not for you. We look for motivated individuals who want to be part of a team.

Application process:

Please note that you can submit only one application for our Traineeship intake. If you apply for multiple locations, we will only consider your first application.

We are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and supported to succeed. By making sure our workplace is physically and mentally safe, so that our people can be their authentic selves, share their unique perspectives and can thrive.
