Salary range $113,448 – $131,517 plus super

About the role

To put it simply, this position plays a key role in supporting Hydro Tasmania’s financial accounting responsibilities through a range of engaging and vital tasks. This role gives the opportunity to be across standard accounting functions as well as assist with specific, impactful functions such as the maintenance of Hydro Tasmania’s fixed asset registers and undertaking tax requirements and accounting advice as directed. Within this role, along with your financial accounting experience, you will utilise your strong communication and collaboration abilities to deliver these key responsibilities and enhance financial processes and reporting efficiency.

As a Senior Financial Accountant at Hydro Tasmania, you will…

Responsibilities include:

- Produce high quality reports and analyses and present key financial information and insights to a variety of stakeholders
- Work collaboratively and build strong working relationships within own team as well as across the organisation
- Prepare external financial reports including (but not limited to) annual financial statements, treasury reports and special/ad hoc reports (such as ABS returns)
- Provide expert financial advice across the business including responding to queries, communicating implications of changes in accounting standards and in the development and maintenance of corporate accounting processes and systems

We’re seeking someone with a strong foundation in financial accounting, ideally with exposure to tax and fixed asset management. Your experience will also include your:

- Demonstrated experience in financial accounting – even if you are earlier in your career but still have specialised experience in this area as well as demonstrate a genuine interest in it, we want to hear from you
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and collaboration skills
- Capability to thrive in a team environment and value sharing knowledge
- Eagerness to contribute and be a part of a supportive and engaged group
