Overview

Our client, a large Federal Government agency, is seeking a Cyber Security Architect for a long-term contract. Location of work: ACT/NSW/QLD. Must hold Baseline Clearance.

The EL1 Senior Cyber Security Architect will work alongside a dynamic team of professionals to collaboratively achieve the Agency's business objectives.

Responsibilities

- Leadership and Accountability

- Apply an extensive knowledge of cyber security best practices and Australian Government security standards, such as the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), to support the certification and accreditation of Agency systems.

- Provide expertise in security requirements analysis, security architecture, security operations, project delivery and/or risk management with demonstrated technical competence in security design, projects, or operations to contribute to the development and maintenance of the security architecture for the Agency's systems and services.

- Accountable for planning, controlling and leading security architecture projects through to completion, ensuring deadlines are met and quality outcomes are delivered.

- Provide a significant contribution to defining and maintaining 'standard patterns' aligned with the Agency's Security Architecture and provide secure solutions to common design problems, contributing to security assessment and compliance activities, such as IRAP assessments, security testing, and Threat and Risk Assessments.

- Management Diversity and Span

- Drive outcomes within a dynamic team with diverse skill sets to deliver Agency objectives and outcomes against competing priorities and deadlines, maintaining up-to-date knowledge and skills within the team.

- Assist the Director to provide strategic leadership across the team by coaching, training and mentoring members of the wider team, providing feedback to ensure effective performance and outcomes.

- Identify and incorporate appropriate security measures in the development of ICT projects and the information security program.

- Support the procurement of security related products and services as directed by senior team members.

- Independence and decision-making

- Work with a high level of independence to prepare and deliver presentations, minutes, briefing papers, guidance and advice for stakeholders at business and technical levels; provide security advice into the design, build and test of the Agency's corporate and digital health systems to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information assets.

- Undertake objective, systematic analysis of information and draw accurate conclusions in relation to cyber security architecture with the ability to innovate and resolve issues relating to very complex business problems escalated within the team, selecting appropriate strategies to mitigate security risks.

- Communicate and make decisions that are based on professional judgement to deliver critical solutions to the business in accordance with cyber security best practices and Australian Government security standards, such as the ISM and PSPF.

Essential criteria

- Tertiary qualifications in ICT security and ICT management, or demonstrated equivalence through work experience, or professional ICT certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).

- Knowledge of and experience in the application of cyber security best practices.

- Knowledge of Australian Government security standards, such as the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
