Established in 1983, Swan Christian College is an inter‑denominational school in the Swan Valley serving around 1,600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

We are seeking an energetic and reliable Café Assistant to join our dynamic hospitality team commencing as soon as you’re available. This is a relief position, with flexible times.

Prepare and serve a variety of hot drinks at our popular How yaBean? Coffee shop on school mornings. If you are a café assistant who thrives on hospitality, building positive relationships with students, and contributing to a supportive school community, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities Include:

- Prepare and serve coffee and other drinks at the College café, following recipes and using equipment safely and efficiently.

- Welcome and engage customers with a friendly manner, determining their preferences and using an EFTPOS machine confidently.

- Supervise and support students involved in the College’s hospitality programme during café operations.

- Maintain stock and equipment, including replenishing supplies, performing basic maintenance, and reporting any issues.

- Ensure cleanliness and safety by following hygiene standards, identifying potential hazards, and minimising risks.

- Support daily operations by setting up/packing down café equipment and signage and carrying out other tasks as directed by the line manager.

Selection Criteria:

Essential

- Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and actively participate in a Christian church community.

- Accept and live in alignment with the Association’s Statement of Faith, Foundational Beliefs, and Educational Objectives.

- Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with families, College staff, and SCEA Head Office personnel.

- Exhibit exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.

- Display strong problem‑solving abilities, sound judgment and initiative, even under time pressure.

- Hold a current Working with Children card and a nationally coordinated Criminal History Check as required by WA education standards.

Desirable

- Barista training.

- Friendly, positive and customer‑focused attitude.

- Previous experience in a café, canteen or hospitality (highly regarded but not essential).
